According to that from <strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> of January 2020<\/strong>, the <strong>National Tourist Data Providing Center (NTAK)<\/strong> will take over most of the licensing and data processing tasks from the local governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of that, <strong>during December 2019<\/strong>, all the hotel service provider classified as <em>other and private mini hotels<\/em> should register in the online system of NTAK. From 2020, guestbook must be maintained electronically and mini hotels are obliged to send data online to NTAK&#8217;s system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Legal classification of\nmini-hotels and short-term rental activity in Hungary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you plan\nto do short-term rental in Hungary, basically, you may face two legal\nclassifications <em>(239\/2009 X.20.\ngovernment edict)<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Private mini-hotel (mag\u00e1nsz\u00e1ll\u00e1shely)<\/strong>: the flat\/apartment is operated by a private person or a private enterprise. In both cases, the persons should have a <strong>valid tax number in Hungary<\/strong> (not personal tax number but a VAT number). <strong>The limits for the private-mini hotel are 8 beds and 16 persons.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Other mini-hotel (egy\u00e9b sz\u00e1ll\u00e1shely):<\/strong> the place is operated by a legal person or organization (e.g. a company). This usually required the reclassification of the property. The limits for the other mini-hotel are<strong> 25 rooms and 100 beds.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also find interesting our article about <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Doing Aribnb in the right way (\u00faj f\u00fcl\u00f6n nyitja meg)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whisperingtree.hu\/blog\/how-to-do-airbnb-in-hungary-in-the-right-way\/\" target=\"_blank\">Doing Aribnb in the right way in Hungary<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>What do you need prior to\nNTAK registration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>\u00dcgyf\u00e9lkapu<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you operate a private mini hotel, you will need to have <strong>\u00dcgyf\u00e9lkapu <\/strong>registration (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (\u00faj f\u00fcl\u00f6n nyitja meg)\" href=\"http:\/\/magyarorszag.hu\" target=\"_blank\">www.magyarorszag.hu<\/a>). This can only be done personally. If you stay in Hungary, that is a relatively easy task. <strong>If you are situated outside of Hungary, you will have to visit the Hungarian Embassy.<\/strong> <strong>In both cases, you will need a valid passport in order to complete the registration.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Hungarian tax number<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, you will need a <strong>Hungarian tax number for VAT <\/strong>and invoicing purposes. The format of this number is like this: <em>12345678-1-12<\/em>. It is not the same as the private tax number, which you must have if you own a property in Hungary. The format for that is: <em>1234567890 (10 digits).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How can you obtain a Hungarian tax number? <\/strong>Either you visit the Tax Office Customer Service and fill out a form called <em>T101<\/em> or you submit the same form electronically using your \u00dcgyf\u00e9lkapu. Of course, you may need the help of a local professional for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>How to do NTAK\nregistration?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You will have to login to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ntak.hu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (\u00faj f\u00fcl\u00f6n nyitja meg)\">www.ntak.hu<\/a> and do the registration.
