Hungary is a relatively\nsmall country situated in the mild or moderate climate area with a population\nof about 10 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Costs of\nliving are low compared to the other members of the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, refer\nto the following Wikipedia links about this topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hungary\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hungary<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/European_Union\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/European_Union<\/a>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schengen_Agreement\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schengen_Agreement<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>It matters where you are\ncoming from<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are\narriving to Hungary <strong>from EU <\/strong>and <strong>holding an EU citizenship<\/strong>, there is a\nsimplified procedure (named registration process) in order to get a residence permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are\ncoming from <strong>outside of EU <\/strong>(i.e. <strong>not<\/strong> <strong>holding an EU citizenship<\/strong>, in other words: <strong>you are migrating<\/strong> <strong>from a<\/strong>\n<strong>\u201cthird country\u201d<\/strong>), there is a\nstandard application and evaluation procedure you have to go through before\ngetting a legal residency status in Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Basic types of residence\npermits in Hungary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfollowing are the basic legal categories of residency in Hungary. Please note\nthat not all the titles are listed here just those which affect most of our\nclients who want to migrate to Hungary. Also, we do not list refugee status\nhere, since we do not deal with those applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Study<\/li><li>Family reunification<\/li><li>Gainful activity and employment\n(work)<\/li><li>Other reason<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For<\/strong> <strong>all the\nresidence permits<\/strong>, <strong>you will need\nvalid travel documents<\/strong> (basically: a passport). <em>Please note that your document should not be expired during your stay\nin Hungary.<\/em> Also, you will need to certify that you can leave the country\non your own cost and by your own will when your Hungarian residence permit\nexpires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, <strong>you are obliged testify a valid residency\nin Hungary (i.e. a valid address where you stay like a flat or a house<\/strong>). To\nprove this, you need <strong>a rental contract <\/strong>and\n<strong>a declaration of acceptance <\/strong>from the\nside of the owner of the property. If you have a property in Hungary, you may prove\nyour legality by a <strong>property registration\nsheet (\u201ctulajdoni lap\u201d in Hungarian) issued by the local Land Office (\u201cF\u00f6ldhivatal).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Residency for the purpose\nof Study<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are\ncoming from a <strong>third country (non-EU\ncitizen),<\/strong> you may apply for a <strong>residency\nin Hungary for the purpose of study<\/strong> if you fulfill the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>You are full-time and day-time the\nstudent of a Hungarian educational institute<\/li><li>You paid the fee of the education<\/li><li>You certify that you have eligible\nlanguage knowledge to participate in the study<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are\nholding a Hungarian residence card with the purpose of study, <strong>you are also entitled to have a part time\njob in the country. That means a maximum of 20 hours weekly employment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, <strong>you may start a Hungarian private enterprise<\/strong> and enjoy the benefits of the popular <strong>KATA taxation system <\/strong>(<strong>25.000.-HUF\/month fixed tax in each month<\/strong>). (\u00faj f\u00fcl\u00f6n nyitja meg)\">article about KATA.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Family reunification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Family\nreunification residence permit may be issued for the persons who are non-EU citizens\nand have a non-EU citizen relative already living in Hungary based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Valid residence permit<\/li><li>Permanent settlement<\/li><li>Refugee status<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Residency for the purpose\nof gainful activity or employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you arrive\nto Hungary from a <strong>third country (non-EU\ncitizen),<\/strong> you may apply for a <strong>residency\nfor the purpose of pursuing gainful activity or employment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the\nright choice for you, <strong>if you are running\nor plan to start a business and want to take part in your own business\u2019\nactivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will\nneed the following supporting documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Business plan<\/li><li>Founding documents of your\nenterprise<\/li><li>Bank statements of your business<\/li><li>Certificate of your private funds\n(e.g. bank statements, declaration of support by your relative etc.). Please\nnote that it is advisable that you present around <strong>10.000.- EUR\/year\/capita<\/strong> of private funds.<\/li><li>Description of your business activity<\/li><li>A document about your wage in your\ncompany (e.g. a founder\u2019s resolution)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2>Staying in Hungary for other\nreason<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do\nnot fall in the above basic categories, other reason is the best choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Universities\nwill report this category to the Immigration Office <strong>for the period you prepare your diplom.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, this\nis the ideal category for you, <strong>if you\nare starting a business in Hungary. We highly recommend this to our clients in this\ncase. Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since other\nreason does NOT require the followings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Proof of your regular income in\nHungary<\/li><li>Tax certificates<\/li><li>Regular social security payments in\nyour business. <strong>This may be as high as\n130.000.-HUF\/capita\/month!<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With other\nreason, you may require the Immigration Office to <strong>issue a Hungarian residence permit for you till the time you start up\nyour business<\/strong> and produce some income. Immigration Office requires at least\n6 month of business income but 1 year is the optimal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually, our\nadvice is as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Step1: Start your business and apply\nfor a residence card with other reason.
