The aim of this article is to help you to register to Hungarian Tax Office (NAV) online invoicing system in order to fulfill the legal requirements came into effect from 1st July 2020.

Prerequirments
In order to register to online invoicing system, you will need the followings:
- Hungarian Electronic Government Gate (in Hungarian: Ügyfélkapu)
- Hungarian personal tax number (format: 10 digits)
- Your business’s tax number (format: 12345678-1-12)
Step 1: Go to NAV’s website
Open your browser and visit https://onlineszamla.nav.gov.hu/home.
Switch to English language if necessary (top right corner).
Step 2: Business registration
Click register button (green button in the top right corner). You should see the following screen.

Click „Registration by Taxpayers Obliged to Supply Data”
Use your personal tax number here (10 digits)


Then select your business type and add your business’s tax number.
STEP 3: Technical user registration
Once you have registered your business, you should create a technical user. This technical user will have:
- Username
- Password
- XML key
- XML exchange key
Those are crucial information which you will have to enter to your invoicing software.
STEP 4: Connect your invoicing software to NAV online invoice system
Open your invoicing software and enter the above mentioned data into the settings.
If you do not know how to do that, please refer to your software manual of the vendor.
STEP 5: Test your data connection
If everything went in order, you will be able to see all invoices that you issued from 1st July 2020 in NAV online invoicing system.
To check this, please click “Outbound invoices” in the top scroll down menu bar.
STEP 6: Manual entry
If you do not have invoicing software or you also want to use paper invoicing, than you must enter the data of hand written invoices to NAV online invoicing system manually within 5 days of the date of issuance of the invoice.
